Perspectives on Eastern Cape Industrialization

Working paper 20, “Perspectives on Eastern Cape Industrialisation”, is part of a body of work developed by ECSECC over many years on industrialisation in the Eastern Cape. This Working Paper reviews the provincial and national manufacturing industry and places this in a global context. It focuses on three industrial segments of particular relevance to Eastern Cape: advanced agriculture, transport equipment and non-automotive manufacturing.

The 2015/16 financial year was another successful year for the entity in the quest to implement its five year Strategic Plan as approved by the Executive Authority and the Eastern Cape Legislature. The last financial year also marked the 20th Anniversary of ECSECC as a leader in development planning in the Eastern Cape. The annual report outlines ECSECCs achievements and projects. ECSECC’s focus in the year under review was to support execution planning and cascading of the Provincial Development Plan (PDP) to local government. Another major focus was the development of the provincial infrastructure plan in line with the PDP objectives and the National Infrastructure Plan.
