The aim of this programme is to shift the economic development path of the Eastern Cape so that poverty is progressively reduced and ECSECC's vision is eventually achieved. The peripheral nature of our economy and its relative under-performance are well understood and need not be re-elaborated here.
This programme has been established as a stand-alone programme to respond to ECSECC's mandate to mobilise and coordinate stakeholders to drive a common provincial infrastructure agenda in the Eastern Cape. This is done to improve integration of infrastructure planning across sectors and spheres of government.
Established in 2000, the Eastern Cape AIDS Council, (ECAC) is a multi-stakeholder council. The ECAC secretariat is hosted by ECSECC. ECAC was established mainly to coordinate multi sectoral responses to HIV, TB and STIs, in the Eastern Cape Province. ECAC was formed to help ensure greater co-operation between government and organs of civil society in the battle against HIV/AIDS.
The aim of this programme is to support the Office of the Premier, Provincial Government departments and Local Government in the field of development planning. This will include providing support to the centre of government in advancing a capable developmental state across spheres, buttressed by a strong integrating, planning and executing centre. This also includes transitioning provincial municipalities into becoming developmental local government.
The Human Resources Development Programme drives education and training initiatives that aim to build human capability for economic growth in the Eastern Cape. The Programme is the Secretariat to the Eastern Cape Human Resources Development Council and supports the overall implementation of EC HRD Council's priorities.
The purpose of this programme is to make sure ECSECC remains the information hub of the province. In essence it generates information through research with an objective of distributing it for the use of the public.
