The aim of the project is to provide policy makers with the latest socio-economic performance and trends for the Eastern Cape. Reports produced are used by ECSECC's internal and external stakeholders to inform policy and strategic planning processes.

Most of ECSECCs publications are generated by the economic and statistical researchers working on this project. The best known publications are the following:

  • Monthly review of inflation
  • Quarterly labour market review
  • Quarterly review of GDP
  • Quarterly review of trade and ports
  • District profiles
  • A perspective on the Eastern Cape Matric results
  • Analysis of labour market trends

ECSECC also regularly provides training and support to stakeholders with data and analysis. Some examples include:

  • Assisted the department of Social Development (DSD) with a motivation on service specification costing model for the NGOs
  • Provided training and mentoring of ECNGOC staff on data capturing and data analysis in SPSS
  • Study design and data analysis for Sabona Sonke Foundation
  • Supported EC Stats SA with the Millennium Development Goals Reports validation
  • Research and quality management support to ECDC socio-economic research and strategy development projects
  • Provided SPSS research methodology and training for the Mnquma Local Municipality and Department of Sports Recreation Arts and Culture
  • Provide training to LED and IDP officials in local and district municipalities in Excel for Economists and calculation and interpretation of socio-economic indicators. This training was organised in collaboration with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs
