THE KEY RESULT AREAS OF THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Work with the lead evaluator/ researcher and participate in the development of:

o the detailed implementation plan

o report structure,

o the write-up of the report across sections of the report

• Participate in development of an evaluation matrix with the team, including building on the structure, and identifying the methods needed.

• Adhere to all ethical clearance and data governance requirements.

• Participate in the development of detailed data collection instruments.

• Support the piloting of instruments with the team

• Conduct document study and literature review.

• Participate in the revision of instruments.

• Conduct fieldwork.

• Undertake key interviews and focus groups (where necessary).

• Participate in Documenting the Theory of Change (TOC) and implementation model for the programme (documented in a logical framework).

• Participate in the analysis of the data

• Write-up of key sections of the report, ensuring due consideration of quality and editorial concerns in all drafts.

• Participate in implementation of validation workshops (in support of the internal Project Lead) to test the findings from the report.

• Participate in finalisation of the report based on feedback from ECSECC Project lead, stakeholders, and the Steering Committee.

• Participate in a post evaluation learning session with the team to reflect on lessons learned.

• Contribute a report to the organisation on the lessons learned from the exercise and recommendations for similar studies in the future.

OTHER TASKS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Provide continuous progress updates to Project Manager, and the broader ECSECC team (when necessary).

• Contribute to presentation of findings and outcomes of the study to relevant ECSECC, and stakeholder forums, as and when required.

• Contribute to the write-up and compilation of draft and final report.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Evaluation, or other related fields.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in conducting evaluations/research as part of a team.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in qualitative data collection methods, including interviews and focus groups.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in systematically gathering, analysing, and synthesizing relevant evidence, data, and information from a range of sources, identifying relevant material, assessing its quality, spotting gaps and writing effective research reports.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of relevant research and evaluation approaches, methodologies, and designs.

• Knowledge of research and evaluations ethics, including objectivity, protecting confidentiality/anonymity, and obtaining prior informed consent from evaluation participants.

• Project management skills.

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work in a team.

• Attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

EXTENT OF STAKEHOLDER NETWORK

• Exposure to ECSECC stakeholder networks and experience in working alongside, or within these networks will be an added advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work overtime when required and travel extensively.
