Official EC Unemployment Rate Declined to 42.8%

According to StatsSA, the official unemployment rate in the Eastern Cape declined to 42.8% in 2022Q2. Compared with other provinces, the Eastern Cape recorded the highest unemployment rate, followed by Limpopo (36.3%) and Mpumalanga (36.1%). At sub-provincial level, the unemployment rate declined in both metros: BCM down by 6.4 percentage points to 27.3% and NMB down by 1.7 percentage points to 34.7% in 2022Q2.
