Programme Purpose
The Strategic Research and Innovation Programme mobilises and applies specialist research resources to produce high-quality knowledge and research products to strengthen the nexus between science and policy development.
Accordingly, the Programme establishes and maintains internal and regional research capabilities per ECSECC's mandate, core values and operating model.
At an operational level, the Programme:
- Identifies research needs and data requirements whilst quantifying the current state of research and available data.
- Consolidates research agendas and updates data and platforms with data and resources for use within the research and innovation ecosystem.
- Consistently produce high-quality, compliant research and knowledge products by securing resources, commissioning research, and collecting data.
- Apply and disseminate research and data products to end-users while enhancing ecosystem capacity and strengthening the nexus between sound research and policy development.
- Secure external resources within and outside the ecosystem to support research and knowledge development intervention and capacity enhancement.
The Programme allows ECSECC to consolidate and integrate its research and knowledge production resources whilst establishing a dynamic network of research partners to access technical, technological, and financial resources to enhance decision-making based on accurate and reliable evidence.
The Programme also seeks to develop an environment that enables researchers to foster creativity, excellence, and technical competencies by establishing an enabling environment within which researchers are nurtured and developed to research their full potential, with space to think, reflect, analyse and solve problems whilst having access to appropriate tools, systems and capabilities.
